| Custonaci, a small ancient town where many archeologist have found many caves. Custonaci is located between the sea-side and mount Bufora, mount Cofano. The town is dominated by an ancient Church which is dedicated to the blessed Virgin Mary, protector of Custonaci. The main feast in honor of the Madonna is celebrated on the last Wednesday of the month of August.
The ancient part of the town “Scurati” is located just a few km from Custonaci where nearly 600m you can find the famous cave named “Mangiapane”. This name was given by a family who lived there from 1800 until World War 2. in this cave you can visit the “live museum” which takes place every weekend from 8a.m to 12a.m.
Nearly 120 people work to demonstrate the different jobs of the life lived in the ancient years. |
